We are thrilled to share that our pioneering work on the SpADANet model has got even more attention! After already being recognized by IIT Bombay’s Research Highlight, ResearchMatters, LokSatta, and FreePressJournal, our research has now been highlighted by a leading national newspaper TheHindu. This spotlight further validates the groundbreaking nature of SpADANet, a spatially aware AI model that is transforming the way we assess damage caused by Hurricanes.

Developed by our GeoSysIoT lab at CSRE, IIT Bombay; SpADANet uses advanced spatial context and domain adaptation techniques to overcome the challenge of varying damage patterns across different cyclonic storms and regions. Unlike traditional models, which often struggle with images from different geographies, SpADANet adapts to new environments even with minimal labeled data.
We are grateful for the attention this work is receiving and excited to see how SpADANet can continue to help communities impacted by hurricanes and other natural disasters. Stay tuned as we continue to develop and refine this technology with the aim of making disaster response faster, more efficient, and more effective.
