We are pleased to share that SpADANet, our research work on domain-adaptive damage assessment, has received recognition on the Research Highlight page of IIT Bombay, ResearchMatters and has also been featured by “The Free Press Journal“.

SpADANet is designed to address one of the core challenges in real-world disaster damage assessment i.e., domain shift across events and geographies. By integrating advanced domain adaptation strategies, self-supervised learning, and robust feature alignment, the framework enables improved generalization across unseen disaster scenarios, particularly in data-scarce settings.

This recognition highlights the growing relevance of generalizable and scalable AI solutions for disaster response and risk assessment. Being featured on both an academic highlight platform and public-facing news outlets reflects the broader impact of the work beyond the research community, emphasizing its potential for operational deployment and decision support.

This work would not have been possible without the unwavering guidance and leadership of Prof. Surya Durbha, whose vision and mentorship were central to bringing this research to life.
