Industry-Alumni connect and GIS Day 2024

The Centre of Studies in Resources Engineering (CSRE) had the honor of hosting a vibrant Industry-Alumni Connect and Workshop on GIS Day 2024. This event was a celebration of geospatial innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence. With esteemed delegates from MapMyIndia, ESRI, TCS, Capgemini, and Amazon Web Services; our retired faculty Prof. P. Venkatachalam, and an enthusiastic audience of students, industry professionals, and alumni, the event was a resounding success.

Highlights of the Event

The day commenced with a warm welcome by Prof. Surya S Durbha, Head, CSRE, setting the tone for a day filled with insightful discussions and knowledge-sharing.

The event featured two engaging panel discussions focusing on the launch of CSRE’s new M.Tech programs:

Panel 1: Geospatial Data Science
This discussion explored the scope and relevance of the new M.Tech program on Geospatial Data Science, a cutting-edge field poised to revolutionize spatial analysis and decision-making.

Panel 2: Agriculture Technology and Innovation
Jointly designed by CSRE and CTARA, this program emphasizes leveraging geospatial technology to address critical challenges in agriculture, sustainability, and rural development.

Industry Alumni Connect along with GIS Day 2024

Academia talk by Prof. P. Venkatachalam

The event also provided an opportunity to honor the contributions of CSRE’s retired faculty, whose dedication has shaped generations of students and advanced geospatial research. She delivered an inspiring talk wherein 10 different challenges were presented to the people in the industry to look for and solve. Her reminiscences and expertise added a nostalgic and insightful dimension to the event.
